<v Kelsey>Introducing the winner of the Cars.com Best Value Award. For the second year in a row, the Hyundai Venue.
Amid a year of economic uncertainty we hoped would've eased up by now, plus a microchip shortage and other supply chain faults, the price of all new vehicles has gone up. So it's good to see a low starting price like the base Venue's $20,125, including destination charge. <v Brian>For that suggested retail price it has the requisite power accessories, an automatic transmission, alloy wheels, an eight-inch touch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Cruise control, keyless entry, well-rated automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning with steering assist, and Hyundai's excellent warranty, plus three years free maintenance. That's a boatload of features some rivals lack or charge extra for. Even a factory loaded Venue Limited comes to around $23,000. <v Kelsey>Venue wins this award by presenting a pile of value without being a pile of, well, you know what. The front wheel drive quasi-SUV is a pleasant, if basic runabout with spacious front seating, must have tech, and user friendly controls. The Venue's tiny four cylinder engine delivers gradual acceleration and an unremarkable EPA rated 31 miles per gallon combined. But it retains a substantial planted composure, even at highway speeds. So how did we get here? Well, we first narrowed the field to the most affordable models in popular classes. Then we chose our value finalists based on features, warranties, and other qualities for the money. <v Kelsey>For the 2022 Best Value Award, the Hyundai Venue returned as the undisputed champ.
