(edgy upbeat music) Hi, I'm Lindsay Bjerregaard. And I'm Matt Avery with Cars.com. And today we're checking out the Taste of Chicago. We're finding out which cars would make for good and bad first dates.
(old-time film reel music) How would you guys react if your date showed up in a Pontiac Grand Prix? Um, It's okay. Somebody young, and uh, just started. It's their first car, maybe? He's like an intern. <v Lindsay>And what about if he showed up in a Toyota minivan? I'd tell him to go home. (laughs) He has a big family. He probably has children, or he's a (indistinct). (laughing) Or living at home with his parents and driving their car. He's probably driving his mom's car. <v Lindsay>How about a guy who showed up in an old Toyota Celica? It would be okay. Probably one that works at like a grocery store. Taxi guy. (giggles) Probably, like 45 and lives in a trailer. [Lindsay} ...showed up in this truck? Ew. I'd like run. I'd run for the hills. I wouldn't go out with him. He probably likes to go boating. Gas waster, non-environment, I don't even want to talk to him. No. It's not an attractive car, either. Like real muscular, buff guys, who think they're too good for everything else. <v Lindsay>How about a guy who showed up in a BMW? Well, when you put it next to the water, it looks very much more tempting. (laughing) Probably, their parents' car. Wow. <v Lindsay>(laughs) We're talking about beach and... (laughs) <v Lindsay>Uh huh. ...expensive dinner, everything. Love it. Yeah. Yeah, I'd say he could afford to take you out on a pretty good date. I hope we go sailing. (laughing) Oh, I love sailing. Someone who has money. <v Lindsay>And then how about a guy who pulled up in a Smart car? Environmentally and technology savvy. Another European? I probably wouldn't get in (laughing) car. Very, very frugal. (laughs) No. Oh my God, I want one of those. (laughs) I'd think I'm in Italy. Yeah. He's probably European. ...because Italian guys are hot. <v Lindsay>How about a guy who showed up in a Chevy HHR? No. Kind of a dorky one. Hmm. I'm thinking one that works at Pep Boys. <v Lindsay>And then how about a guy who showed up in a Volvo? European? (laughing) I wish I... Or he (indistinct) the family? Safe but, but fun and... A little bit classy, can't afford the sports car. (laughs) He's a wannabe. He has kids. <v Lindsay>Would you want to date him? No. <v Lindsay>And then how about a Mazda Protege? Yeah, that'd be fine. Well, I'd know that he was thrifty. Mm-hmm (affirmative) Uh, budget wise. I don't know, whatever. Just kind of blah. Yeah, that's probably another good... I couldn't stereotype that with anything. Yeah, I, I'd go for that. Yeah, solid. (laid-back Latin music)
