(upbeat music) You're shopping for compact cars, three popular redesigns demand attention. The Chevrolet Cruze, the Honda Civic, and the Hyundai Elantra. Here's some things we liked and didn't like about each.
The Civic's steering is clearly a standout feature in this car. It's very nimble and easy to toss into corners. And the Civic is also a very practical car. A couple of things we don't like. Honda insists on putting in capacitive touch buttons. You have a volume slider here, and you have a push area here. And you just have to put your fingers on to turn it on and off. I really just want a volume and a tuning knob back. Chevrolet Cruze excels at going and stopping. Very nice turbocharged powertrain. Lots of torque to get you going, and a responsive automatic transmission. And very good brakes too. A nice linear pedal field. A couple of things we don't like. A very straightforward center stack here, but some missing features. The Cruze doesn't have dual zone climate control. A feature that both the Elantra and the Civic have. We like the Hyundai Elantra styling outside and inside. A very straightforward interior here. Easy to access climate and radio knobs with lots of shortcut buttons. Some things we don't necessarily like. Cabin materials. We haven't been too wild about this redesign here. Just a lot of budget cutting going on, especially versus what you get in that Honda Civic. All three cars pretty well equipped here. And some editors thought the Cruze gave the Civic a pretty good run for its money. But I would say take that Civic home. It's the most well-rounded of these three. (upbeat music)
