Do you dig the Genesis GV80, but you wish you could take that sucker to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro? Boy, has Genesis got the concept for you. Check this crazy thing out.
It's called the Genesis X Gran Equator Concept, and it is the automaker's vision of what a top-of-the-line luxury SUV could look like if it wanted to make such a thing, which we're not quite sure that it does, but it might. Let's check it out. But I bet you wouldn't need my hints to figure out that this is an off-road-focused vehicle. I mean, check out those crazy, massive, 24-inch bead lock-style wheels and those wild all-terrain tires. For the most part, this does kind of look like a big old Range Rover that has been kitted out for the dunes, and that is exactly the vibe that I think Genesis is trying to portray here. Now, some of my favorite bits on the exterior definitely include these lower front lights, very aggressive, also this 3D kind of offset cladding here for when you go off-road, very nice, and I really dig the lattice work on those integrated roof rails, very cool. As striking as the outside is, the interior is arguably the showcase here. As Genesis says, it focused on blending analog and digital architectures. It's a stunning space. I mean, look at those seats, man. Now if you ever see this thing in person, do make sure you get a peek at the four-circle display on the gauge cluster. It's apparently inspired by the dials found on vintage cameras. Way cool. There are tons of cool details scattered on the cabin. Those deep-cut seats, yeah, they swivel. And note all those luxo off-road bits, like the grab handles that are equally chunky as they are luxuriant to grab. Like it? Love it? Well, you got a temper your expectations here as this is hardly the first beautiful, wind-swept, dramatic styling concept that we've seen from Genesis. And much like I suspect that the X Gran Equator here, we've yet to see a production version of that actually materialize. So for now, it's all a dream, but you can read more about this dream at cars.com/news.
