(upbeat music) <v Announcer>"Cars.com Auto Review". Hi, I'm Kelsey May for "Cars.com" and we're at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show checking out Honda's Civic Concept. Now four years ago, Honda showed an Accord Concept at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show.
It ended up looking pretty close to the redesigned 2008 Accord. All of that's to say that this is pretty close, probably to what you're gonna see when Honda releases the ninth generation of its popular compact car later on this year. So already you can see that this is not a huge departure from the current Civics design, which is different because most Civics when they're redesigned do look a lot different from what they looked like before Honda says it was more of an evolution they're trying to capture that energy that was coming out from inside the car. Making a lot of top lines expect there to be a Civic Sedan, a Civic Coupe, high performance SI versions of both as well as a Civic natural gas version. And Honda's first lithium-ion hybrid in the Civic Hybrid. Now both the Civic and the Civic Coupe will actually have Honda's Eco Assist functionality with an Econ sort of button that modifies drive train settings for better fuel efficiency. And that's gonna be a stiff battle competitors like the Hyundai Elantra now get an EPA estimated 40 miles-per-gallon highway Civics always been an efficient car and so you can bet that when the new one goes on sale, this spring, Honda is gonna come to compete on that front. <v Announcer>For more car related news, go to cars.com or our blog KickingTires.net.
