About the video

We’ve owned our long-term 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Trailhawk for a few months now, and we’ve already gotten it dirty. And a little damaged. We’ve also been keeping track of fuel economy and charging data and have a lot more content planned.

Earlier this year, we named the Jeep Grand Cherokee our best SUV of 2023 and bought a 2023 Grand Cherokee 4 by E Trail Hawk to go through the ownership experience and report back on what it's like living with this vehicle.
And it's already been a few months. We've done a lot with it already. We've put a few thousand miles on it. You can see we've taken it off-roading. So it's time for our first ownership update. So, let's get to it. And if you're not already subscribed, please go and hit that subscribe button, turn on notifications so you don't miss all of our ownership updates and all the other content we produce here. And if you enjoy it, go ahead and throw us a like. So what have we done so far? Well, as I mentioned, and as you can probably tell from the state of this vehicle, we've gone off-roading. Part of owning a Jeep means joining a huge enthusiast community. And so we took this down to the Jeep Jamboree at the Badlands off Road Park in Attica, Indiana and we had the opportunity to bring a Wrangler 4 by E Rubicon along as well. So we got to take this off-roading, see what it's like being at a Jeep Jamboree. Tons of fun. More to come on that. But as you can see, we're also gonna have some repair updates because off-roading is not without its risks. Another part of the ownership experience here for us is documenting fuel economy. Now the EPA rates the Jeep Grand Cherokee four by E at 23 miles per gallon combined. We've only been seeing about 21.7 miles per gallon per tank, which isn't a huge drop off, but this is the heaviest four by E and it's got these nabby off-road tires. So it's not surprising. But if you do get a Trail Hawk four by E expect a little bit less fuel economy. We'll keep track of it and see if that holds up throughout the ownership experience. We also have been getting about 26 miles of all electric range, if not more per full battery charge. So that's been impressive as well. For all the details on our fuel economy and fuel cost, charging data, head over to the written report. So what's next? We've got range testing and charging testing planned in a variety of weather conditions just to make sure that things hold up the way they should. We're testing a lot of the features in this like the night vision camera. We've gotta get Amazon Fire TV running so all the staff children can be appeased during summer road trip season. And we've got a lot more planned as well including hopefully some more off-roading. So, that's what we have planned for this. But what do you want to see? Wherever you're watching this, let us know. And for all of our Jeep Grand Cherokee long-term content and everything else we're doing, you can find it here on cars.com.
