Tesla has once again changed prices on models in its lineup, this time for its flagship Model S sedan and Model X SUV. The electric vehicle automaker has raised prices for both models, which already do not qualify for the EV tax credit due to their high MSRP. The price increases also come with a potent incentive, with Tesla throwing in three years of free access to its Supercharger network.
The price increases for the Model S and X come after Tesla cut prices on the duo last month and just two days after the automaker lowered prices on its Model 3 sedan and Model Y SUV. Before the price increase overnight, the Model S started at $86,380 (all pricing includes a $1,390 destination fee), and the Model X started at $96,380. The cost of admission for all variants of both models is now up $2,500 after the increases:
Model S Dual Motor: $88,880
Model S Plaid: $108,880
Model X Dual Motor: $98,880
Model X Plaid: $108,880
In addition to the revised pricing, Tesla is throwing in three years of free unlimited charging on its Supercharger DC fast-charging network with the purchase of either model. Buyers will need to take delivery of their new Model S or Model X by June 30, and the incentive cannot be transferred to another vehicle or a subsequent owner. Tesla says that Superchargers can add up to 200 miles of range in 15 minutes for the Model S and up to 175 miles in 15 minutes for the Model X.
