The latest recall from Ford affects more than 1.4 million vehicles from both it and its luxury arm Lincoln. The issue involves the rearview camera, which may display a blank or distorted image.
Affected Ford vehicles and their model years are listed below:
2015-17 Expedition
2015-18 Edge, Transit Connect
2015-19 Super Duty F-250, F350 and F450, Mustang
2016-19 Super Duty F-550, Transit
2017-19 Econoline
2019 Ranger
Affected Lincolns include model-year 2015-17 Navigator SUVs and 2015-19 MKC SUVs. The rearview camera in these vehicles may display a distorted or blank image when the vehicle is in Reverse, reducing the driver’s visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.
As a fix, dealers will replace the rearview camera, as necessary, for free. Interim letters notifying owners of the issue are expected to be mailed Sept. 22; a second letter will be sent out once the remedy is available. Those with further questions can contact the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 25S89; it expands previous recall 25V270), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
