Ford is recalling more than 105,300 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs (Lincoln is Ford’s luxury brand) over a defect that may cause the seat belt pretensioner to lock.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2018-20 Expeditions and Navigators. The issue lies in the seat belt pretensioner, which may inadvertently lock the seat belt and prevent it from retracting or extending. A seat belt that does not function properly could fail to restrain an occupant in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Dealers will inspect the seat belt retractor date codes and replace the seat belt retractors, as necessary, for free. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 14. Some vehicles included in a previous recall may have been repaired incorrectly and will need to get the new remedy completed. Those with further questions can contact Ford at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 25S31), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification numberand learn more.
