Vehicles Affected: Approximately model-year 2006-10 600,200 Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ and Mercury Milan sedans built at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant from Feb. 22, 2006, to July 15, 2009
The Problem: A normally closed valve inside the hydraulic control unit may stick open, which could result in extended brake pedal travel, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will inspect the hydraulic control unit for signs of stuck or slow-responding valves and replace the unit, as necessary, for free.
What Owners Should Do: Lincoln and Mercury manufacturer Ford did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 800-392-3673, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
