Don’t say we don’t deliver news for every car buyer under the sun. As the onslaught of new model data streams in, we tackled one of the least expensive cars — the Chevy Aveo — yesterday. Today’s news focuses on the high-performance trims of the luxury Jaguar XK Coupe and Convertible.

The price of entry for the 2007 XKR Coupe is $85,835; $91,835 for the Convertible. Prices do not include a $665 destination charge. The XK and XKR as well are completely redesigned for 2007. The XKR price is up from $82,330 and $87,330 respectively from 2006 models but there’s a lot of new in the “all-new” designation.

The XKR is simply a high-powered version of the 2007 XK. KickingTires has covered the new XK extensively and Cars.com reviewer Joe Wiesenfelder enjoyed the newest Jaguar as well. Still, none of us have gotten seat time in the XKR yet.

The XKR supercharges the base 4.3-liter 300 hp V8 of the XK to produce a much healthier 420 hp. A number of other suspension and performance goodies are included that some would argue warrant the roughly $12,000 upgrade from the base vehicle. We’d definitely say the 2007 XKR price increase over the 2006 model is worth it.
