Vehicles Affected: Approximately 646,000 model-year 2011-14 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs
The Problem: Brake booster shields were installed under a previous recall campaign to prevent water from entering the brake booster and limiting braking ability. If the shields were not installed properly, the vehicle’s braking ability may be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will inspect the brake booster shield and correct the installation, as necessary, for free.
What Owners Should Do: Dodge and Jeep manufacturer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will begin notifying owners Nov. 7. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
