2011-2015 Ford and Lincoln Cars, SUVs and Vans: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 2.15 million model-year 2011-14 Ford Fiesta cars, model-year 2013-14 Fusion sedans, model-year 2015 Mustang coupes, model-year 2013-15 Escape SUVs and C-Max hatchbacks, model-year 2012-15 Focus cars and model-year 2014-16 Transit Connect vans, model-year 2013-14 Lincoln MKZ sedans and model-year 2015 MKC SUVs, all previously recalled

The Problem: A component within the door latches may break, making the doors difficult to latch or leading an occupant to believe a door is securely closed when it isn’t, increasing the risk of injury.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly and replace the side door latches, if necessary, for free. Owners also have the option to inspect their own vehicle’s door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct.

What Owners Should Do: Ford will begin notifying owners July 20. Owners can call the autommaker at 866-436-7332, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
