Competes with: Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna, Nissan Quest
Looks like: If a minivan can ever be called stylish, it’s this one
Drivetrain: 283-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6
Hits dealerships: Summer 2013
For parents who think driving a minivan is the opposite of cool, Chrysler has your new ride. For 2013, the automaker is giving its Town & Country a dose of style with a capital S.
The Town & Country S version adds black cabin and exterior trim, as well as more interior features and a sport suspension. (We’re not kidding.) According to the automaker, the move is aimed at taking the minivan into luxury territory. The new trim joins top-of-the-line S versions of Chrysler’s 200 and 300 sedans.
The interior and exterior go to the dark side, with a black chrome grille, black-background Chrysler and S model badges, a black step pad, 17-inch aluminum wheels with black pockets and blacked-out headlights. Available exterior colors include Brilliant Black, Deep Cherry Red, Stone White and Billet Silver.
“We tailored the new Town & Country S for the active and style-minded consumers. It’s the downtown style for the Town & Country’s uptown looks,” Saad Chehab, Chrysler brand president and CEO, said in a statement.
Power is unchanged and still comes from Chrysler’s 283-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6. New equipment includes a dual-screen Blu-ray player with HDMI input and two USB ports.
The 2013 Town & Country S goes on sale this summer, and it will slot between the Touring and Touring-L models in the lineup. It will start at $32,990, including a $995 destination charge.
