2013 Infiniti G37: What's New

Vehicle Overview

The G37 comes as a sedan, a coupe and a folding-hardtop convertible. The sedan and coupe come with rear- or all-wheel drive; the convertible is rear-drive only. The sedan has room for five while the other body styles can hold up to four people. Competitors include the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, as well as the Lexus IS, Cadillac CTS and Audi A4. New for 2013
Infiniti has revised the model offerings for 2013. The G25, introduced for 2011 with a 2.5-liter V-6 as the entry-level sedan, will continue as a 2012 model until December 2012, when it will be discontinued. The G37 Sport Appearance Edition and Limited Edition sedans are also gone, leaving three sedans for 2013: Journey, Sport 6MT and all-wheel-drive G37x.  The base G37 coupe also has disappeared, but an IPL (Infiniti Performance Line) convertible joins the lineup.
Exterior
The G37 sedan features headlights that sweep back along the car, as well as a curved hood and large grille. Exterior features include:

  • Standard xenon high-intensity-discharge headlights
  • Optional adaptive headlights swivel in the direction of a turn
  • Standard 17-inch alloy wheels
  • Optional 18-inch alloy wheels

Interior
The G37 sedan seats five, though the rear center position is uncomfortable. Infiniti does not offer a folding backseat, something that competitors like the 3 Series and C-Class do. Interior features include:

  • Standard leather seats
  • Standard six-speaker, USB/iPod-compatible stereo
  • Optional Bose premium stereo
  • Optional navigation system with Bluetooth streaming audio

Under the Hood
The G37 sedan’s 3.7-liter V-6 makes 328 horsepower and 269 pounds-feet of torque. Mechanical features include:

  • Standard seven-speed automatic transmission
  • Available six-speed manual (Sport 6MT)
  • Rear- or all-wheel drive

Safety
The G37’s optional adaptive cruise control can alert the driver, preload the brakes and tighten the seat belts if it senses rapidly decelerating traffic ahead. Standard safety features include:

  • Six airbags
  • Active front head restraints
  • Four-wheel antilock brakes
  • Electronic stability system

G37 Coupe
The G37 coupe gets stronger engines than the sedan. The 3.7-liter V-6 makes 348 hp in the IPL coupe and 330 hp in the other models.  The coupe comes with rear-wheel drive or, on the G37x, all-wheel drive. The Journey and G37x come with a seven-speed automatic; the Sport 6MT has a six-speed manual; and the IPL offers a choice of automatic or manual.

The IPL wears unique front and rear fascia, a rear spoiler and 19-inch, graphite-finish alloy wheels with performance tires. It is available only in graphite or black exterior colors.  Back to top

G37 Convertible
The G37 convertible has a three-piece folding metal hardtop that deploys or stows in about 30 seconds, unique (from the coupe) body panels from the windshield forward and rear pop-up roll bars. All models have rear-wheel drive.

In the base and Sport 6MT models, the 3.7-liter V-6 makes 325 hp. The base has a seven-speed automatic and the Sport a six-speed manual transmission.  High-end features include available heated and ventilated seats and a Bose stereo that places speakers on each side of the front head restraints.

The new-for-2013 IPL convertible packs 343 hp and comes with the seven-speed automatic, 19-inch wheels and a performance suspension and exhaust. Back to top
