2015 Hyundai Sonata Owners Can Now Download Android Auto
Owners of the 2015 Hyundai Sonata midsize sedan with navigation as of today can get Android Auto smartphone integration for free without having to visit a dealer. The tech feature allows drivers to access their phone’s functions, such as calls, music streaming, calendar, navigation and other apps, without engaging in the highly dangerous practice of physically handling their mobile device. Previously available for download at dealerships, Sonata owners/Android users can now make the update from home.

When Android Auto is in use, the user’s phone screen becomes locked to dissuade the user from taking his or her eyes off the road, Hyundai stated. Familiar, easy-to-use interfaces also cut down on the learning curve for Android users, according to the automaker.
Owners can download the Android Auto software update by visiting a dealership or going to www.hyundaiusa.com/myhyundai and downloading it onto a USB memory drive. This requires users to register for a MyHyundai account and have the Android 5.0 “Lollipop” operating system or later, as well as to download the Android Auto companion app for their phone. The compatible navigation system with an 8-inch touch-screen is available on the Sonata Sport, Eco, Limited, Sport 2.0T and Limited 2.0T.
Hyundai earlier this year announced the launch of the similar Apple CarPlay for iPhone users on the 2015 Sonata, the first of its lineup to get the technology.
