In observance of National British Luxury Performance SUV Week (we just made that up), which already has brought news about first-ever utes from Bentley and Jaguar, we now turn to Land Rover. The high-end SUV specialists are pioneers in this particular field, of course, and among the fruits of their labors is the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR — faster and sportier than the Sport and substantially more spendy.

Starting at $111,470, including a $995 destination charge, the Sport SVR’s greatest distinction is its supercharged 5.0-liter V-8, which makes 550 horsepower and 502 pounds-feet of torque, good for a zero-to-60-mph sprint of 4.5 seconds — half a second faster than the standard Sport — and a top speed of 162 mph. The vehicle wears its performance bona fides proudly, with more aggressive cues, including quad tailpipes, a darkened grille finish, unique lower bumpers with taller openings and 21-inch wheels.
The track-ready theme extends to the interior, as well, starting with high-bolstered, quilted-leather sport seats. The rear seats echo that style and provide room for three, or fold in a 60/40 split for a maximum 62.2 cubic feet of cargo space. There are also aluminum trim details as well as optional carbon fiber flourishes on the door panels, center console, dashboard and steering wheel. The Sport SVR is available in seven colors, including the model-exclusive Estoril Blue, pictured in the gallery below.
