Vehicles Affected: Approximately 45,000 model-year 2016-17 Nissan Titan crew cabs built between Sept. 29, 2015, and Feb. 24, 2017, and model-year 2016-17 Titan XD crew cabs built between Aug. 7, 2015, and Feb. 24, 2017
The Problem: The rear seat belt assembly may not adequately prevent occupants' heads from hitting a D-ring bolt trim cap, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
The Fix: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers and will install energy-absorbing material into the C-pillar and replace the seat belt bolts and bolt caps free of charge.
What Owners Should Do: The recall is expected to begin Sept. 26. Owners can contact the manufacturer at 800-647-7261, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
