2016 Los Angeles Auto Show What You Missed: Day One

CARS.COM — The first day of the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show was busier than the paparazzi outside the arrivals gate at LAX. We covered the debuts of 16 vehicles today, from everyday entries like the 2017 Mazda CX-5 and 2018 Ford EcoSport to exotics like the 2017 Lamborghini Huracán Rear-Wheel-Drive Spyder and 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio, and from ultra-luxurious dream cars such as the 2017 Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet to absolutely outrageous ones like the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G550 4×4 Squared.

Concept cars also impressed today in L.A., including the Jaguar I-Pace long-range electric SUV and 2017 Honda Civic Si Prototype — both of which arrived with promises from the automakers to soon become production models. The latest and greatest in technological advancements also were front and center, as Hyundai debuted both its integration of the Amazon Echo voice-recognition system into its BlueLink system and a conceptual self-driving version of its forthcoming electrified Ioniq.
