Vehicles Affected: Approximately 9,800 model-year 2018-19 Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-Maybach S560 luxury sedans equipped with 4.0-liter V-8 engines
The Problem: Two engine oil plugs may not withstand high engine loads while driving, possibly resulting in an engine oil leak that can cause slippery road conditions. Additionally, if the engine runs out of oil, it can cause a stall. Either scenario can increase the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will replace the engine oil plugs for free.
What Owners Should Do: Mercedes-Benz will begin notifying owners May 19. Owners can call the automaker at 800-367-6372, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
