Vehicles Affected: Approximately 6,300 model-year 2018 Lexus LS 500 sedans and LS 500h hybrids equipped with run-flat tires
The Problem: The tires were assembled to the wheels improperly and there’s a possibility that a crack could develop on the sidewall reinforcement layer of the tires. Under certain driving conditions, portions of the tread layer could separate, reducing stability and increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will replace all four tires for free if one or more run-flat tires are manufactured by a specific supplier.
What Owners Should Do: Lexus manufacturer Toyota will begin notifying owners by late April. Owners can call Lexus at 800-255-3987, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
