Vehicles Affected: Approximately 7,200 model-year 2019-20 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks equipped with Advantage trifold soft tonneau covers
The Problem: The original instructions may be difficult to follow, possibly resulting in the cover being installed incorrectly and detaching from the truck bed to become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will provide a cover tether kit, improved instructions and additional labeling.
What Owners Should Do: Chevrolet and GMC manufacturer GM did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call Chevrolet at 800-630-2438, GMC at 800-462-8782, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
