Vehicles Affected: Approximately 499,300 model-year 2019-20 Honda Odyssey minivans and Passport SUVs, and model-year 2019-21 Pilot SUVs for a software issue that affects how the rearview camera displays, and approximately 212,000 model-year 2019-20 Odyssey minivans for a separate issue with the rearview camera display
The Problem: For the Odyssey, Passport and Pilot, incorrect central network software programming may cause several errors to occur that can delay or prevent the rearview camera image from displaying, which can reduce the driver’s view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Additionally for the Odyssey, water may get into the rearview camera mounting holes and enter the camera lens, causing a distorted image or none at all. If the rearview camera view mode is set to top-down view or switched from that view to another mode in a bright environment, the image also may not display, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: For the delay issue, Honda will notify owners that updated software is available. Owners have the option to either follow the mailed instructions to download and update the software, or visit a dealer to have the software update performed. Either way, the repair is free.
For the water distortion issue, dealers will replace the rearview camera for free.
