Vehicles Affected: Approximately 25,000 model-year 2019 Fiat 500X hatchbacks and Jeep Renegade SUVs

The Problem: Incorrect software may cause the occupant restraint controller module to disable certain passive safety features, which can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will update the ORC module software for free.

What Owners Should Do: Fiat and Jeep manufacturer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will begin notifying owners May 30. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
