2019 Volkswagen Beetle: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 4,000 model-year 2019 Volkswagen Beetle coupes and convertibles

The Problem: The instrument cluster may not provide a visual warning when a brake system failure is detected, which could lead to a loss of control while attempting to brake, increasing the risk of crash.

The Fix: Dealers will update the instrument cluster software for free.

What Owners Should Do: VW began notifying owners March 7. Owners can call the automaker at 800-893-5298, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
