2020 Ford Expedition, F-150, Ranger: Recall Alert
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 55,200 model-year 2020 Ford Expedition SUVs equipped with the Police Package and a 10-speed automatic transmission, and F-150 and Ranger pickup trucks equipped with the 10-speed automatic
The Problem: A clip that locks the gearshift cable to the transmission may not be fully seated, which may allow the transmission to be in a gear different from the position selected by the driver. This could allow the driver to move the shifter to Park and remove the ignition key without the transmission gear being in Park, potentially causing an unintended rollaway and increasing the risk of an injury or a crash.
Ford said it is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.
The Fix: Dealers will inspect the shift cable locking clip and properly seat it, as needed, for free.
What Owners Should Do: Ford did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 800-392-3673, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
