Marching into year nine since its last full redesign, the Nissan Murano gets a simplified lineup for 2024 but no other changes except for a newly standard power panoramic moonroof for the SL trim. Gone is the base S trim level, leaving three tiers available: SV, SL and Platinum.

Standard and Optional Safety Equipment

All Muranos include adaptive cruise control and Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 as standard equipment. The bundle includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot monitors, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert with reverse automatic braking. Power comes from a 3.5-liter V-6 engine making 260 horsepower and 240 pounds-feet of torque; it’s matched with a continuously variable automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on all trims, with all-wheel drive a $1,700 option across the board.

Standard equipment on the SV includes 18-inch wheels, LED lighting front and rear, keyless entry and start, dual-zone climate control, synthetic leather upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, and an 8-inch touchscreen with satellite radio, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and six speakers. The SL rolls on 20-inch wheels and gets a 360-degree camera system, panoramic moonroof, real leather, heated rear seats and steering wheel, navigation and an 11-speaker Bose sound system. The Platinum adds NissanConnect Services emergency notification functionality, upgraded leather, ventilated front seats and power adjustability for the steering column.

Pricing and Availability

The 2024 Nissan Murano is on sale now. Pricing (including $1,335 destination) is as follows:

  • SV: $39,255
  • SL: $43,215
  • Platinum: $47,265

Versus the Competition

Aging as it is, the Murano remains attractive inside and out. Although losing its base trim makes its pricing appear less competitive than it is, the SV is reasonably well equipped for the money. Pricing for many 2024 models isn’t available yet, but the 2023 Honda Passport starts at $42,475, the 2023 Toyota Venza at $36,015 and the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport at $38,065.
