2025 Chevrolet Traverse Drops Base LS Trim, Adds High Country
After a redesign for the 2024 model year that gave it a bold look to better align with Chevrolet’s truck-based Tahoe, the Traverse takes another step toward the brand’s full-frame family for 2025. A new High Country trim level like the one that caps off the Tahoe, Suburban and Silverado SUVs is now available for the full-size Traverse SUV.

The Traverse High Country slots between the off-road-oriented Z71 and the sporty-looking RS trim and enjoys comfort and convenience touches, such as leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated outboard second-row seats and a 10-speaker Bose audio system. In addition, a new Sun and Wheel Package is available for 2025, and the Trailering Package is now standard on the LT.
Last year’s entry-level LS trim drops from the roster, bumping the base price for the 2025 Traverse up $3,000 from 2024, although the remaining trim levels only increase $600 for the LT and $1,200 for the Z71 and RS.
Powertrain Specs and MPG
The Traverse is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 328 horsepower and 326 pounds-feet of torque; it is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is a $2,000 option on most trim levels, but it’s standard on the Z71. With FWD, the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse returns an EPA-rated 20/27/23 mpg city/highway/combined; AWD versions are rated at 19/24/21 mpg.
