Honda’s runaway bestseller and the fifth most popular vehicle in the U.S., the CR-V is getting a few tech upgrades and a new TrailSport trim level for the 2026 model year. Otherwise, the compact SUV carries into the new model year unchanged save for a new paint color choice called Ash Green Metallic for the TrailSport.

What Are the CR-V TrailSport’s Features?
Having debuted on the 2022 Passport, TrailSport is Honda’s off-road trim, but what it means varies from vehicle to vehicle. In the Pilot family, the TrailSport rides 1 inch higher than other trims; the Ridgeline and Passport TrailSport don’t get any additional ground clearance but do have retuned suspensions for better control off-road.
On the CR-V, differentiation between the TrailSport and the rest of the lineup is minimal. The TrailSport’s only off-road gear is a set of Continental CrossContact ATR all-terrain tires on gray 18-inch wheels, but it also wears a unique lower front bumper with a silver faux skid plate, black spoiler and exterior trim, and orange TrailSport badges on the nose and tail. Inside, the TrailSport logo adorns the front-seat head restraints and rubber floormats, and there’s amber ambient lighting. The TrailSport trim is only available on the CR-V hybrid and includes standard all-wheel drive.
What Are the 2026 CR-V’s Powertrain Specs?
Powertrains for the 2026 CR-V carry over. Standard is a 190-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 179 pounds-feet of torque and is mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission. A hybrid system, available on higher trims, combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with two electric motors that make a total of 204 hp and 247 pounds-feet. Both powertrains are still available with front- or all-wheel drive.
All 2026 Honda CR-Vs with four driven wheels benefit from upgrades to the AWD system. Honda says revisions improve power distribution below 9 mph, with greater braking force at the wheels with less traction, directing more torque to the axle with the most grip.
Tech Updates
Every 2026 CR-V now includes a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as wireless phone charging. Previously limited to upper trim levels, the display is 2 inches larger than was previously standard. The range-topping Sport Touring trim level now includes Google Built-In, and the priciest gas-powered CR-V, the EX-L, and all hybrid variants above the Sport trim also get a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster.
What Is the 2026 CR-V’s Release Date and Pricing?
The 2026 Honda CR-V and new CR-V Hybrid TrailSport will arrive at dealerships before summer. Pricing will be announced closer to the start of sales.
