3.5 Million 2014-2018 Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC SUVs and Pickup Trucks: Recall Alert

2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 3.5 million model-year 2015-17 Cadillac Escalade SUVs; model-year 2014-18 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup trucks, Silverado 2500/3500 heavy-duty pickups, GMC Sierra 1500 pickups and Sierra 2500/3500 HD pickups; and model-year 2015-18 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe and GMC Yukon SUVs

The Problem: The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time, weakening brake assist and increasing braking effort. This extends the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will reprogram the electronic brake control module for free.

What Owners Should Do: Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC manufacturer GM did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule.
