Another day, another major recall for the Blue Oval. Ford’s latest recall affects more than 312,100 examples of its Bronco and Expedition SUVs and F-150 and Ranger pickup trucks, as well as Navigator SUVs from luxury brand Lincoln. The recall involves an issue with the electronic brake booster module.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2025 Broncos, Expeditions, F-150s, Navigators and Rangers. The electronic brake booster module may malfunction while the vehicle is in motion or when the driver is using an advanced driver-assist system, resulting in a loss of power brake assist. Without power brake assist, stopping distance may be extended, increasing the risk of a crash. If such driver-assist features are engaged without power brake assist, the vehicle may not brake as expected, which also increases the risk of a crash.
To resolve the issue, the electronic brake booster module software can be updated over the air or by a dealer; both options are free. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Aug. 25; in the meantime, owners with further questions may contact Ford at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 25S77), the National Traffic Safety Administration vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit the NHTSA website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
