Ram’s latest recall affects more than 317,600 of its heavy-duty pickup trucks and involves an issue that may cause the antilock brakes, electronic stability control or traction control to fail.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2017-18 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500 and 5500 trucks. Some of these trucks may have been manufactured with a faulty brake hydraulic control unit, which may result in the loss of the antilock braking system, electronic stability control or traction control, increasing the risk of a crash. If the ABS isn’t functional, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp should illuminate as a warning.
To fix the issue, dealers will replace the hydraulic control unit for free. Stellantis will notify owners by Jan. 9, 2025. Those with further questions can contact the automaker at 800-853-1403 (Stellantis’ designation for this recall is C4B), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
