Affected vehicles include model-year 2024-25 Blazer EVs. The rear parking brake wiring harness may become damaged or corroded, resulting in unintentional engagement of the parking brake or a loss of the parking brake function altogether. Unintentional engagement of the parking brake during driving increases the risk of a crash. Disengagement of the parking brake while parked may result in a rollaway, which also increases the risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect the harness for the issue, and if necessary, reroute it and install anti-abrasive tape, as necessary, for free. Any harness that is already damaged will be replaced. GM will begin notifying owners Aug. 11, but those with further questions in the meantime can contact Chevrolet at 800-222-1020 (GM’s number for this recall is N252503010), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
