Affected vehicles include model-year 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 trucks equipped with chrome front grille deflectors. The issue lies in the attachment points, which may fracture and cause the grille deflector to detach. A detached grille deflector could become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
GM is still developing a remedy, which will be performed for free once available. GM will notify affected owners March 24, but those with further questions can contact GMC customer service at 800-462-8782 (GM’s number for this recall is N242490120), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
