737,000 Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid, Insight Sedans Recalled for Software

Among a set of four large recalls issued Dec. 15 by Honda was one dealing with a software issue that affects more than 737,000 Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid and Insight sedans.

The action affects owners of model-year 2018-20 Accord and Accord Hybrid sedans and model-year 2019-20 Insight sedans. A software error may disrupt communication between the body control module and other components. This could result in malfunctions of various systems, including the windshield wipers and defroster, rearview camera, exterior lights, power windows and audible warnings of a stopped vehicle. Any of these issues can increase the risk of a crash. 

Dealers will resolve the issue by updating the body control module software. All repairs will be done for free, and the recall is expected to begin Jan. 18. Owners with questions can call the automaker at 888-234-2138 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236. They also can visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
