We’re anxiously awaiting the arrival of the all-new 2007 Infiniti G sedan. Perhaps it’s the underdog fan in us that’s rooting for this BMW 3 Series competitor to succeed, but the past generation left us just short of all-out love.
Besides an attractive new exterior design and an interior that resembles the recently redesigned Infiniti M sedan, the G will have an optional 10-speaker Bose sound system dubbed “Studio on Wheels.”
There’s the normal 1-inch tweeters near the side mirrors and the also-expected mid-high-range speakers in the front doors and center dash. But what we like is the additional 10-inch woofers in the front doors. This should give the driver a more encompassing sound than relying on a trunk-mounted subwoofer. And let’s face it, the G, 3 Series and Audi A4 are drivers’ cars.
There’s also another 10-inch woofer in the rear deck and two full-range speakers in the back doors for the rare times there are passengers back there. No price has been officially announced, but expect the Studio to be included in a premium package similar to the current G sedan’s paltry seven-speaker set-up, which runs $3,350. The 2007 G will be here in November.
