Chevrolet SS Branding Returns to Glory With 615-HP 2025 Blazer EV SS

The letters “SS” used to mean something special on a Chevrolet (but not literally “something special,” as they stand for “Super Sport”). But with no more Camaro to carry the flame, Chevrolet might have fallen back into bad habits and let the letters get approximately as watered down as the Mariana Trench. Instead, the 2025 Blazer EV is set to reestablish the SS designation as something to be respected.

Blazer EV ZL1 Might Have Been Appropriate
After previously announcing the output of the 2025 Blazer EV SS as 595 horsepower and 645 pounds-feet of torque, Chevrolet has revised those figures upward: Now rated at 615 hp and 650 pounds-feet, the Blazer EV SS equals the output of GM’s more recent performance letter, V. Matching the output of the General’s first high-performance electric vehicle, the 2026 Cadillac Lyriq-V, the Blazer EV SS looks to be the quickest SS model Chevrolet has ever built. The company claims it will accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds in Wide Open Watts mode, which temporarily boosts output for spurts of extreme acceleration (and which we’ve seen under various guises in other GM products, including the Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Hummer EV SUV).
Chevy hasn’t released the range of the SS, but a larger battery pack than the rest of the lineup should help keep it closer to the 283-mile estimate for other all-wheel-drive Blazer EVs. Not only is the pack bigger—102 kilowatt-hours versus 85 — it’s also capable of DC fast charging at up to 190 kilowatts compared to 150 for the rest of the family.
In addition to its potent powertrain, the Blazer EV SS gets a more aggressive suspension tune, Brembo brakes, and 22-inch wheels with available summer performance tires. It also comes standard with GM’s hands-free Super Cruise semi-autonomous highway driving tech, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and an eight-speaker Bose sound system.

How Much Will the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS Cost?
The 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS will go on sale later in the first quarter. Including the $1,395 destination charge, pricing will start at $61,995 — $16,000 more expensive than the base Blazer EV LT. Whether or not the (additional) additional power justifies the expense to buyers, it at least makes it somewhat less offensive that the Blazer EV SS is pacing this year’s Daytona 500.
