CARS.COM — As trends go, large cars are on the outs, but that’s not stopping Kia from relaunching its flagship sedan. The automaker released a teaser image of the second-generation K900 and promised a late-2018 on-sale date for the rear-wheel-drive sedan. That’s despite slow sales for the outgoing version, which moved just 455 cars in 2017, Kia’s lowest.
The new model looks like it’ll retain the same proportions as the existing sedan, though the teaser image hints that Kia is adding more drama to the K900’s face with a larger, squared-off grille and more distinctive headlight design.
It’s likely the K900 will share a platform with the Genesis G90, from Hyundai’s luxury brand, and will likely borrow one or both of that model’s powertrains: the base twin-turbo 3.3-liter V-6 or the optional 5.0-liter V-8.
Kia says the new K900 was created through joint efforts by the automaker’s designers in Korea and in the U.S. and will be manufactured in Korea. Kia also says to expect the K900 to make its world debut soon; we’ll be looking for it at the 2018 New York International Auto Show next month.
