Sure to be popular among students, faculty, staff and alums of a particular University of Illinois campus — and not many others, based on sales figures — the Urbana Edition adds unique exterior and interior touches and is based on the Trekking version of the subcompact SUV.
Outside, the side mirror caps, grille, door handles, liftgate bezel, taillamp surrounds and sill moldings are all painted in Miron, a portmanteau of “metallic iron.” That’s also known as gray, which is apparently the color name Fiat forgot. Unique 18-inch wheels are painted matte black and Miron with a copper-painted center cap. Inside are unique patterned seats, a black-painted center console, a black textured instrument panel with a copper 500 logo, and Miron-painted radio and vent surrounds.
It will cost an extra $845 on top of the 500X Trekking’s base MSRP to get into the Urbana Edition, and the option package is available on both front- and all-wheel-drive versions.
