Ford’s second major recall of the month is an expansion of a previous recall and affects more than 103,100 examples of its F-150 pickup truck. The issue involves the rear-axle hub bolts, which may break.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2023-25 F-150s equipped with the Trailer Tow Max Duty Package and a 9.75-inch heavy-duty axle with a three-quarter float-axle design. The rear-axle hub bolt on these vehicles may fatigue and break, possibly resulting in damage to the axle hub splines. The damage can cause a vehicle rollaway when the vehicle is in Park without the parking brake applied or a loss of drive power, both increasing the risk of a crash.
As a fix, dealers will replace the left and right rear axle shaft assemblies for free. Ford will notify owners in phases beginning Aug. 18, with all owners notified by May 22, 2026. Those with further questions in the meantime can call the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 25S82), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more. This recall expands recall number 23V896.
