It’s been a busy June for Ford on the recall front, with three major safety missives to start off the month and, now, a fourth recall for over 304,600 Explorer SUVs and Lincoln Aviator SUVs over an issue with the second-row seats (Lincoln is Ford’s luxury arm).
The affected vehicles include model-year 2020-25 Aviators and Explorers. The issue lies with the switch for the easy-entry second-row outer seats, which may bind or stick. This could result in the seats unlatching, folding or sliding unexpectedly while driving. A seat that moves unexpectedly can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
To remedy the issue, dealers will inspect the second-row switch and replace the bezel around it, as necessary, free of charge. Letters notifying owners of the recall are expected to be mailed June 23; second letters will be sent once the remedy becomes available. Owners with questions in the meantime may contact Ford at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 25S67), the National Traffic Safety Administration vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
