Going for the Bold: 2025 Genesis G90 Priced From $90,950

Automakers play a lot of games with their vehicles’ prices, not the least of which is setting them just below some noteworthy level. The idea is clearly that a consumer is more willing to pay $49,750 for a vehicle than $50,000. And if the non-negotiable destination charge nudges it past that mark? Options, taxes and all the rapid-fire fine-print fees that clog the end of every advertisement were going to do that anyway.

With the 2025 G90, on sale later this year, Genesis is taking the opposite approach: It’s using the luxury sedan’s price tag to make a bold statement. The base G90 plays by the common rules, with its MSRP set at $89,700 ($90,950, including the $1,250 destination fee). But the brand is planting its flag with the G90 3.5T e-Supercharger and asserting that this is a six-figure luxury sedan, pricing it at an even $100,000 ($101,250 with destination).

For the 2025 model year, the G90 gets standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as standard Genesis Connected Services, which allows owners to check the car’s status and access various controls via an app. The 3.5T e-Supercharger variant gets physical buttons on the front center console for the automatic closing doors, as well. Additionally, the Makalu Gray Matte and Hallasan Green exterior colors are no longer available.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

The base G90 3.5T is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine putting out 375 horsepower and 391 pounds-feet of torque. That’s more standard power than the pricier Audi A8 and mirrors the output of the $100,575 (including $1,175 destination) BMW 740i xDrive. The six-figure G90 is the 3.5T e-Supercharger, which adds an electric supercharger to eliminate turbo lag and bumps output to 409 hp and 405 pounds-feet of torque. Both powertrains are teamed with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive.

The 3.5T returns an EPA-rated 18/26/21 mpg city/highway/combined. The 3.5T e-Supercharger is a mild hybrid, but it doesn’t beat the fuel economy of its non-hybrid sibling; it’s rated at 17/24/20 mpg. While the Genesis’s power stacks up well against the competition, the G90 falls short on fuel efficiency. The Audi and BMW return 22 and 27 mpg combined, respectively, and even the 442-hp Mercedes-Benz S500 4Matic is rated at 24 mpg combined.
