Which should you buy, 2020 or 2021? If you’re looking for an entry-level model, you might as well go for the 2020. Otherwise, you’ll have to decide if the addition of blind spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert is worth the extra $525.

Honda has updated the Insight compact hybrid sedan, its answer to the Toyota Prius, for the 2021 model year by adding additional safety features to the Insight’s mid-level and above trims and making a new Radiant Red Metallic paint color available.

The Insight includes Honda’s Honda Sensing suite of safety features as standard equipment and now adds blind spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert to all but the lowest trim level.

Base LX models are $25 more expensive for 2021 on account of the destination fee also increasing $25 to $955; it’s priced from $23,885 (prices include destination). The mid-level EX model starts at $25,765, and top-level Touring models are priced from $29,795, each $525 increases.

As for which to buy, the addition of blind spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert for an additional $525 is a modest increase as far as new model-year price increases go, and you get two added safety features. It seems worth it.

The 2021 Insight is on sale now.
