Hyundai Expands Complimentary EV Charger Offer to More Models

Hyundai is extending its electric vehicle charger incentive to more of its lineup. The program, which initially applied to the 2025 Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 5 N models, allows customers to choose between a home charging station or credits for public charging. Beginning with purchases or leases made on or after March 1, the incentive is now available for the model-year 2024 Ioniq 5 SUV and model-year 2024-25 Ioniq 6 sedan.

What Are the Details of Each Offer?
Customers selecting the ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger must go through Hyundai Home for installation. Installation costs are not included in the offer and can vary significantly, depending on home electrical setup and permitting requirements. When six Cars.com editors had Level 2 chargers installed at their homes, installation costs ranged from $900 to $6,045.
To claim the charger, customers must redeem a code within 60 days of purchase and complete installation within 120 days. Hyundai has partnered with Electrum to handle the process, including consultations and scheduling with certified installers.
For those opting for the $400 ChargePoint public charging credit, buyers must redeem the offer within 60 days of purchase; it can be used over a two-year period. The credit can be applied through the ChargePoint mobile app, which provides access to over 87,000 chargers across the country.
Industry Trends and the Future of EV Incentives
With federal EV tax incentives in flux, manufacturer-led programs like this could become increasingly important in maintaining consumer interest in EVs. Many automakers now provide similar perks.
While Hyundai’s program helps offset initial charging costs, potential buyers should consider other factors, such as installation expenses and charging habits, before deciding between the home charger or public charging credit.
