Jaguar I-Pace Concept Review: Photo Gallery

CARS.COM — Jaguar’s I-Pace Concept is an all-electric SUV that’s hardly a “concept” in the traditional sense: Jaguar claims it will be in showrooms in 2018. The small SUV borrows exterior styling cues from various production models and concepts from the storied British automaker.

The front end is reminiscent of the XE sedan, while it has large vents flanking the grille that would look at home on the F-Type sports car. The cab-forward design is inspired by the C-X75 concept car that debuted in Paris in 2010. (The C-X75 is a “true” concept that Jaguar never put into production, sadly.) The rear roofline slopes dramatically downward into a rear end that is part F-Pace, Jaguar’s first SUV, and (thanks to the spoiler and slope angle) part Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback. We can’t all be beautiful from every angle.
The interior features the usual luxury touches one would expect from Jaguar: Leather, Alcantara simulated suede, aluminum and walnut wood adorn the cabin surfaces. Technology is also a focal point inside the I-Pace, as it features two touchscreen interfaces and a 12-inch high-definition virtual instrument cluster. Hopefully Jaguar will have worked out the gremlins that have plagued our recently tested Jaguar models by the time the I-Pace reaches production, predicted for late 2017.
