Affected vehicles include model-year 2020-24 Tellurides. The motor for the front power seat may continue operating and overheat due to a stuck slide knob or dislodged power-seat back cover, which can result in a fire. Warning signs of this include the seat slide knob sticking, a burning smell and smoke from underneath the seat. Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the repair is complete.
To resolve the issue, dealers will install a bracket for the power-seat switch back covers and replace the seat slide knobs for free. Kia will notify owners July 30, but those with further questions can contact the automaker at 800-333-4542 (Kia’s number for this recall is SC316), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visitits website to check yourvehicle identification number and learn more.
