Mini Releases More Details on Electric 2025 Countryman

As compact urban runabouts, Minis are more philosophically aligned with electrification than most vehicles — and as the least mini Mini, the Countryman is the brand’s vehicle most aligned with American automotive tastes. Now we know a few more details about the all-wheel-drive 2025 Countryman SE All4 that will be the brand’s first attempt at a mainstream electric vehicle on our shores.

Range, Powertrain Specs and 0-62 MPH
The Countryman SE All4 will pack a 66.5-kilowatt-hour battery. This is said to be good for 269 miles on the European test cycle, which tends to return higher results than the U.S. EPA cycle. With a 130-kilowatt onboard charger, the battery will be able to juice up from 10% to 80% in less than half an hour when connected to a DC fast charger. Owners will be able to manage charging remotely through Mini’s app and, with proper planning, ensure their Countryman is fully charged and the cabin preconditioned to the ideal temperature before unplugging and starting a trip.
Motors on both axles will give the Countryman SE AWD (hence the All4 name) and combine for 313 horsepower and 364 pounds-feet of torque. Mini claims the Countryman will accelerate from 0-62 mph in 5.6 seconds and have a top speed of 112 mph.
Level 2 Autonomy
Mini hasn’t stated whether its Driving Assistant Professional will come to the U.S. yet, but if it does, it will enable hands-free driving on certain roads. For Europe, the system tops out at 37 mph, which would make it handy for traffic jams on our shores but otherwise limited use for commuting.
One notable feature of the system is automated lane changes in anticipation of an exit, which will allow the Countryman to speed up or slow down as necessary to pick its way through gaps in traffic to get to the appropriate lane. While the system’s availability on our shores is uncertain, its inclusion for other markets tells us that, at the very least, the Countryman has the necessary tech for adaptive cruise control and an active lane-keeping system.
What’s a Mini Without Personalization?
The electric Countryman SE will be available in four trim levels, each with distinct interior and exterior finishes and details. Mini’s signature two-tone finishes will, for the first time, offer a silver roof as an option. Inside, all trims will sport another Mini signature element: the round central display. Measuring 9.4 inches in diameter, it will be slightly larger than the standard 8.8-inch screen in the 2024 Countryman. Running Mini’s latest software, Mini Operating System 9, the display is both the instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system. New Experience Modes will combine display graphics with ambient-lighting colors and patterns, as well as Mini Driving Sounds to suit the driver’s mood.
A Bigger Mini
Having grown about 5 inches longer and 4 inches taller than its predecessor, the electric Countryman is also 0.9 inch wider, which translates directly into a wider interior. The company claims a nearly identical increase in shoulder and elbow room for occupants front and rear.
Mini will announce pricing and an on-sale date for the Countryman SE All4 EV at a later date.
