The old adage that Americans love big, powerful trucks when fuel is cheap seems to be proving true once again. Responding to demand for the top 6.2-liter V-8 engine in the Tahoe and Suburban full-size SUVs, Chevrolet has announced that it will be expanding the availability of this engine by creating a new special edition for those two trucks. The new 2019 Tahoe Premier Plus and Suburban Premier Plus can be ordered now, with Chevrolet beginning SUV production in mid-August.
Previously, the more powerful V-8 engine option was only available on Chevy’s performance-oriented Tahoe RST Premier and Suburban RST Premier SUVs, which also included a monochromatic trim package, Magnetic Ride Control adjustable suspension, a 3.23:1 axle ratio, and big 22-inch wheels and tires. Starting price for that model of the Tahoe was around $66,000 and the Suburban just a hair under $70,000, but if you wanted a more traditional SUV look to your Tahoe and Suburban, you were out of luck. Now, you can specify the Premier Plus version of the Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban instead of the Chevy RST and retain all the chrome.
