The airbags may not deploy in a crash as a result of the incompatibility. The affected vehicles were manufactured from Nov. 4 to Dec. 22, 2011. Mitsubishi will notify owners, though a notification schedule hasn’t been provided to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Dealerships will replace the incorrect airbag sensors with new, compatible sensors free of charge.
Owners can call Mitsubishi for additional information at 800-222-0037 or NHTSA’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236.
