Redesigned 2024 Hyundai Kona Starts at $24,435

After unveiling the thoroughly redesigned Kona earlier this year, Hyundai has now hung a price tag on its stylish, angular subcompact SUV. Pricing creeps up between $1,500 and $2,800, depending on trim level, but in exchange for more money, buyers get more Kona.

The 2024 Kona is an inch wider and more than 5 inches longer overall than the 2023 model; the wheelbase grows by a little over 2 inches. The stretched wheelbase means significantly more room for people inside, and cargo space balloons by about 33%, according to Hyundai’s measurements. Tech upgrades also justify the higher price, with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system standard and another 12.3-inch screen for the gauge cluster available.
As before, the Kona SE and SEL are powered by a 147-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable automatic transmission. The Limited and N Line trims use a 190-hp, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder and an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is available on every trim level for $1,500. Hyundai is reserving details and pricing on the Kona EV for a later date.
Trim Levels
Standard safety equipment on the Kona includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian avoidance, lane departure steering assist and blind spot monitors with rear cross-traffic alert. The base Kona SE rides on 17-inch wheels, and its lower body is clad in dark-gray plastic. Proximity keyless entry and start — as well as remote starting — are also standard, and inside are cloth seats, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, a six-speaker sound system with satellite and HD radio, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The SEL adds 18-inch wheels, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, a power driver’s seat, a manual height-adjustable passenger seat and dual-zone climate control with rear vents. A Convenience Package available on the SEL adds the 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a column-mounted shifter (in place of a console-mounted unit), heated front seats, power windows, navigation, wireless phone charging and Wi-Fi. The Convenience Package also includes adaptive cruise control and enhanced forward collision warning to keep watch when turning at an intersection.
Powered by the 1.6-liter engine, the Kona Limited includes all the SEL and Convenience Package extras, as well as automated parking and a 360-degree parking camera with front and rear sensors for those who insist on doing it themselves; the cameras also feed a blind spot display in the gauge cluster. The Limited also gets a power moonroof, synthetic leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting and an eight-speaker Bose audio system. You’ll be able to identify the Limited from its satin-chrome beltline trim or if you see an owner waving their foot under the power liftgate’s kick sensor.
The Kona N Line gets body-color cladding, black mirrors and 19-inch wheels. It, too, has a power moonroof, as well as sport seats with simulated-suede trim, metal pedals and the eight-speaker Bose audio system.
Pricing and Availability
The 2024 Hyundai Kona will arrive at dealers this summer. Pricing, including a $1,335 delivery fee, is as follows:
